There was a bald guy on the stage and I was falling off my seat unable to control myself. ‘Pant (was) On Fire’ as the Delhi cold suddenly turned into a warm glow. And then … !!! Ooooooh … There was pain in my stomach and water in my eyes. Aaaaaahh that was the result of an hour-and-a-half of continuous bouts of unending laughter with no pauses.
This was about 12 hours back and I’m smiling thinking about the last night’s ‘fire’ when a man made a bunch of 450 people laugh non stop. Non~Stop !!! Oh! What a splendid two hours they were. A stand up comedy show by Sorabh Pant it was. And I realised what an amazing talent it is to be able to make so many people laugh at the same time.
It’s the spontaneity which amazes me the most in all comedians, though not all are successful. There was no topic untouched by Sorabh and it was my first stand up comedy show. Ripples of laughter, people roaring away, screaming, screeching, hooting … all together. Pure sin it was in times like these when people have forgotten how to smile.
What a delight it was and made me contented and happy. I had to go backstage and got a personally autographed book written by him — A Wednesday Soul. Almost every time I drive (and look around), all I see are tired faces contemplating life, traffic, time and what not. Never get to see happy, smiling, singing, joyful people.
In such times I would like to salute such amazing souls who have the power to make people smile and laugh. Three cheers to them. You don’t have to be a funny man or a woman to laugh or make people smile. You don’t have to be 18 years and above even. Haahaaaa! Just keep smiling and shine through. Life is short ….break all rules.
