Sequels are common now a days. But what, if one has not seen the first part? How does one co-relate! This week something similar happens.
We have only one release ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara’. Directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, this is a sequel to ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’ (2010). In the new version, the story begins from where it ended in ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’.
For those who haven’t seen ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’, here’s the gist: The story is narrated by ACP Agnel Wilson (Randeep Hooda) in the year 1993 as we are taken back to Bombay in the 70s which is ruled by a smuggler called Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgun). Mirza loves Rehana (Kangana Ranaut) and does a lot of work for the poor and needy.
Sultan is loved by the common man but is listed as ‘wanted’ for the authorities. He takes a young boy Shoiab (Emran Hashmi) under his wing and trains him. Shoaib is in love with Mumtaz (Prachi Desai) and learns the tricks of the trade very early in life.
Later, Shoaib kills Sultan to become the king, himself. The invincible Shoaib is the target of the police now. He surely rules Mumbai but is not loved by the needy as he is very selfish. The hunt is on…
Now ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara’ is released and the hunt is still on. In this film, the character of Shoaib is played by Akshay Kumar and Mumtaz, his love, is played by Sonali Bendre. He is the reigning don but has not earned that respect which Sultan, his mentor, had in his life time before being eliminated by Shoaib.
Shoiab meets a young man Aslam, played by Imran Khan, in the slums and takes him under his wing. Jasmine, played by Sonakshi Sinha, is struggling to become a star and Shoiab is mesmerized by her beauty and approach. Aslam too falls in love with Jasmine and so the story takes the turn.
The triangle and the love, torn apart between the two men, puzzles Jasmine who has to decide whom she chooses. But, will Shoiab leave her with any choice? Whom and where will Aslam go – to his mentor, to his love or will he follow Shoib’s footsteps and kill him to repeat the history? The fight is on now.
