Gulaab Gang – upcoming film

Madhuri is seen flying in mid air with a sickle.

It is said in India that a women is the biggest enemy of another women, as in “aurat hi aurat ki sab se badi dushman hoti hai”. This is what the new Bollywood movie coming up also proves true.

Directed by newcomer Soumik Sen, ‘Gulaab Gang’ is the story of rural women who organise themselves, make a gang, wear pink attires and revolt against injustices they face every day.

The movie is based on the real life story of Sampat Pal Devi who leads the Gulabi Gang which started in 2006 as an extraordinary group of brave women who took up a fight against injustice.

Our very own dhak dhak girl Madhuri Dixit plays the lead and who would guess that it is the sweet dimpled Juhi Chawla obliging to be the villian. Madhuri has already played strong in ‘Mrityudand’ and a picture released by none other than the actress herself shows her flying in mid air with a sickle.

It is the first time Juhi would be playing a negative role. Would you believe how this sweet-faced girl, who has always played bubbly and cheerful roles, ends up now being a gangster!

Gulabi Gang

‘Gulaab Gang’ should be a record breaking film which casts for the first time both the actresses Juhi and Madhuri, who were arch rivals in their times together, in a film. This is like a comeback film for Madhuri after ‘Aaja Nachle’. ‘Gulaab Gang’ also features Mahie Gill, Shilpa Shukla, Tanisha Chatterjee and Divya Jagdale.

So in ‘Gulaab Gang’, as the women fight against all the men who are torturing them daily, they also fight against Juhi. Will the movie be an eye opener and bring a revolution in the country or will it just come and go as other films? Well, the date of release in March – on Women’s Day – will decide.
