MOVIE TIME – India Box Office

The releases this weekend splash the box office – Citylights, Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, Maleficent, The Raid, The Nut Job, and Blended.

MALEFICENT (English): Director: Robert Stromberg | Cast: Angelina Jolie, Sharlto Copling and Elle Fanning.

“It’s a reinvention not just re-telling the story” said Linda Woolverton Screenplay writer of ‘Maleficent’. Disney brings us ‘Maleficent’, directed by Robert Stromberg. It is the story of Maleficent (from the famous fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty) who is the witch who is not invited to Princess Aurora’s christening as she curses Aurora that on her 16th birthday she will prick her finger and then she will go into a deep sleep.

Elle Fanning who plays the role of Princess Aurora said, “I was not scared but rather intrigued by the character of Maleficent when I saw the animated story of Sleeping Beauty.”

“Everyone has heard the story of Sleeping Beauty from the point where the christening is happening but this film is about the story that led to the circumstances before the curse,” says Angelina Jolie who plays the role of the wicked Maleficent in ‘Maleficent’.

A dark fantasy in 2D and 3D versions. It is said that the movie brings the good old classic story to life like never before.

THE NUT JOB (English): Director: Peter Lepeniotis | Cast: Will Arnet, Brendan Fraser and Katherine Heigl.

An animation adventure comedy which takes us to fictional Oakton where a squirrel and a rat make a plan of a nut store heist of large proportions. Liam Neeson and Brendan Fraser have given their voices in the film. A fun adventure film to look forward to.

BLENDED (English): Director: Frank Corasi | Cast: Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. 

Blended

Two single parents who are stuck in a holiday together in Africa with their respective children fall in love and the love story begins. Rejections and acceptances from both the families lead to a series of adventures together. A fun loving rom-com is what ‘Blended’ is.

KUKU MATHUR KI JHAND HO GAYI (Hindi): Director: Aman Sachdeva | Cast: Siddharth Gupta and Simran Kaur Mundi. 

The story of a young boy played by Siddharth Gupta and how he after being shunned by everyone opens up a uber cool restaurant and faces all the problems at hand.

CITYLIGHTS (Hindi): Director: Hansal Mehta Cast: Rajkummar Rao and Patralekha. 

A happy family in a village of Rajasthan devastated by a misfortune decides to leave the hometown and migrate to Mumbai in the hope that they will do good there. ‘Citylights’ is directed by Hansal Mehta and the lead cast is Rajkummar Rao and Patralekha.

We also see ‘The Raid’ directed by Gareth Evans which is supposedly the most violent film ever.
