This week we have Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapur head on with each other. We see Bang Bang and Haider – the only two films releasing this weekend on India Box Office. When two strong movies release on the same date there is sure some competition and a confusion for the movie goers as to which one to see. Let us begin with Haider –
HAIDER (Hindi): Genre: Feature Film | Director: Vishal Bharadwaj | Cast: Shahid Kapur, Shraddha Kapoor, Tabu, Narendra Jha, Kay Kay Menon, Irrfan Khan and Kulbhushan Kharbanda
Basharat Peer and Vishal Bharadwaj bring the adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet for us. Directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, Haider is story of a boy who comes back to his home town in Kashmir from Aligarh. He finds that his father is missing and his mother is in relationship with her brother in law. These are tough times of insurgency in Kashmir, during 1995. He takes his revenge and is torn between love and duty.
Vishal Bharadwaj came up with Maqbool in 2003 and Omkara in 2006 which were adaptations of Macbeth and Othello. With Haider, he now completes his Shakespearean trilogy.
The music is by Vishal Bharadwaj himself and all lyrics are by Gulzar leaving two ghazals which are by Faiz – Gulon mein rang bhare and Aaj ke naam. There is a touch of Kashmiri folk in the music and songs of Haider along with the newness of the presentation.
