The lazy weekend just after Diwali festivities are over is one where we relax and watch movies. The India Box Office this weekend brings:
SUPER NANI (Hindi): Genre: Drama | Director: Inder Kumar | Cast: Rekha, Sharman Joshi, Shewta Kumar, Anupam Kher and Randhir Kapoor
Inder Kumar is back with a family drama after the success of his sex-comedy film ‘Grand Masti’ (2013) and this time he brings his super favourite actress Rekha as Super Nani. The film ‘Super Nani’ is based on a Gujarati play ‘Baa Ae Maari Boundary’ and is the story of a woman Bharti Bhatia (Rekha) who is a good wife, devoting mother and a doting grandmother. Sadly in her own house she is ridiculed by everyone all the time.
Then she meets Manorath (Sharman Joshi) who helps her change her image into a successful woman of the changing times and shocks the whole family. It is then that the family realises how precious Bharti is and how important she was to them. A journey of laughter, tears and emotions with a strong message.
Rekha is back on screen after a few flash back scenes in Krish 3 (2013). Her last movie was Sadiyan (2010) directed by Raj Kanwar opposite Rishi Kapoor.
ROAR: TIGERS OF THE SUNDERBANS (Hindi): Genre: Director: Kamal Sadanah | Cast: Abhinav Shukla, Himarsha V, Achint Kaur and Subrat Dutta
Directed by Kamal Sadanah, ‘Roar Tigers Of The Sunderbans’ is a film about the hunt of a Royal Bengal White Tigress whose cub is kidnapped by humans. The tigress hunts the kidnapper Uday, kills him and drags his body deep into the jungle. Uday’s brother Pundit comes to the jungles of Sunderbans looking for his brothers body and makes a team to take his revenge. In his commando team he has sharp shooters, a local guide Madhu and a tracker Jhumpa. Little does he know that it might be him who is hunted instead of the Tigress.
A local villainous poacher Bheera takes this opportunity and tries to use the survivors as a bait to get his prized White Bengal Tigress. The journey takes them deep into the jungle and the Tigress manipulates them into the core of Sunder bans. It is said that one can go to Sunder bans but never come out of it. Does Pundit manage to take his revenge?
FIREFLIES (English): Genre: Drama | Director: Sabal Singh Shekhawat | Cast: Rahul Khanna, Arjun Mathur, Shivani Ghai and Monica Dogra
Directed by Sabal Singh Shekhawat ‘Fireflies’ is the story of two brothers who separated with each other fifteen years ago and went different ways. An estranged relationship which neither could forget. Shiv (Rahul Khanna) is a successful banker in Mumbai and lives a posh life with his wife and Rana (Arjun Pandit) works in a bar and falls in love with a happy go lucky girl. Leaving a tragic past behind them they move on in life. But do they really move on?
Shiv falls in love with his old flame again which further complicates things. Both Shiv and Rana cross each other at a point in life and then do they sort out or separate again?
Director Sabal Singh Shekhawat debuts in Bollywood with ‘Fireflies’. With this film he conveys a strong message. They light up for others and live only till the glow lasts, such is the life of the fireflies. They live a lifetime in a day and live it well.
THE BEST OF ME (English): Genre: Romance/Drama | Director: Michael Hoffman | Cast: James Marsden, Michelle Monaghan, Luke Gracey and Liana Liberato
A love story which lies suspended for 21 years resurfaces and they start all over again. Directed by Michael Hoffman ‘The Best Of Me’ is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks by the same name. Dawson and Amanda fall in love with each other while they are in their youth and then get separated. 21 years later they meet each other and realise that the flame is still strong but it is too late as Amanda is married and is a mother too.
GONE GIRL (English): Genre: Thriller | Director: David Fincher | Cast: Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike and Kim Dickens
Nick Dunne and Any Dunne celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary and then Amy mysteriously goes missing. Amy’s doting parents help the detectives to look for Amy. In the process the hi profile life style which hides many secrets of the marriage of the Dunne’s is exposed to the media and the family. The look out for Amy brings to light many aspects of Nick’s life which nobody knew. Nick is also suspected with Amy’s murder.
Directed by David Fincher the film ‘Gone Girl’ is based on the best seller book by Gillian Flynn by the same name. Will the movie be as successful as the book?
We see two more English releases. FURY, Directed by David Ayer the cast includes Brad Pitt and Shia Labeouf. The film is set during the World War 2; OUIJA, Directed by Stiles White is a supernatural horror movie and the cast includes Olivia Cooke and Shelly Henneg.
