A Military dog serves his country along with his handler who is a soldier on a mission in Afghanistan. The brave soldier dies in an encounter and the grieving dog is brought back home to be rehabilitated.
The only other man who can handle the dog now, is the younger brother of the dead soldier. Coming to terms to the death of his brother and learning how to handle the dog, the youngster unravels a bigger conspiracy.
In this movie five young Belgian Shepard dogs were used for shooting. The main character of Max is played by a Shepard Carlos and the others were body doubles. Director Boaz Yakin said, ““The only problem was that Carlos was very temperamental. But (the trainers) felt they could work with him. We based the character Max on Carlos. When you see Max onscreen, 80% of the time it’s Carlos. Carlos would do everything right in rehearsal. But when we’d start shooting, he’d do something else. It could drive you nuts. But a lot of times, the things Carlos did wrong were so interesting they got in the movie.”
Did you know such dogs who lose their master/handler in war times take more time to rehabilitate than humans do?
