Multiplexes do not close on National Holidays, be it Independence Day. Thus, the releases this weekend can be enjoyed during the extended holidays.
BROTHERS: Directed by Karan Malhotra, the film features Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shefali Shah and Jackie Shroff. It is a remake of Hollywood film Warrior (2011). It also has some resemblance shots from Hollywood movies – Rocky and Fight Club. A story of love which turns into hatred and then into revenge between two estranged brothers and a drunkard father.
After a few soft love stories, Akshay Kumar can be seen back in action along with Siddharth Malhotra, whom we have seen in Hasee Toh Fasee and Ek Villain. The music is composed by Ajay-Atul and lyrics are by Amitabh Bhatacharya.
GOUR HARI DASTAAN: Directed by Anant Mahadevan, the film features Vinay Pathak, Konkana Sen Sharma, Ranvir Shorey, Rajit Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla. It tells the story of a freedom fighter who fought a battle for justice for 32 years.
A silent war that went on for so long for identification and the only purpose was to prove his love for his nation. He fought for a certificate recognizing his work as a freedom fighter which took three full decades to arrive. At the age of 84, the much sought-after certificate, when it was ultimately awarded, was a bitter-sweet victory. The cast line appears promising too.
SHAUN THE SHEEP: It’s going to be fun in the farm. It has been said, Shaun the Sheep is, without exaggeration, as close to perfection as an animated comedy can get. Go gaze into Shaun’s droopy eyes in this animation, adventure, comedy directed by Mark Burton and Richard Starzak.
When Shaun decides to take the day off and have some fun, he gets a little more action than he bargained for. A mix up with the Farmer, a caravan and a very steep hill lead them all to the Big City and it’s up to Shaun and the flock to return everyone safely to the green grass of home.
VACATION: Starring Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Leslie Mann, Skyler Gisondo, Steele Stebbins, Chris Hemsworth, Beverly D’Angelo, Chevy Chase, this comedy film is directed and written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (in their directorial debuts). It is the fifth theatrical installment of the National Lampoon’s Vacation series, being loosely inspired by the original 1983 National Lampoon’s Vacation film. Watch it to find what could possibly go wrong during the Vacation!
