Another week of excitement, mystery, thrills, romance and science fiction is what India Box Office brings with these releases:
SINGH IS BLING: Directed by Prabhu Deva, the film is an out in out comedy. This is the second time Prabhu Deva directs Akshay Kumar, the first being Rowdy Rathore in 2012. The film also features Amy Jackson, Lara Dutta and Kay Kay Menon in lead roles.
This year Akshay has given films like Baby, Gabbar Is Back and Brothers and hopefully this will be a hit with his fans who love to see him doing action and comic roles.
The female lead Amy Jackson has done a few Tamil films and one Hindi movie Ek Deewana Tha. Director Prabhu Deva gave us two flops like Ramaiya Vastaviya and Action Jackson this year. Surely he wants a big hit to overcome that shock.
On the other hand, the music of the film is not out of the box and has a lot of Punjabi folk mixes which at times becomes too much.
TALVAR: Meghna Gulzar directs Irrfan Khan, Tabu, Neeraj Kabi, Konkana Sen Sharma and Sohum Shah in this film. She brings us the traumatic story of the parents of a 14 year old girl Shruti Tandon, who are accused of murdering their own daughter. Some say they are innocent and some find them guilty. This is a true story based on the 2008 murder mystery of Aarushi Talwar and her family servant, in which her parents are convicted for murder.
The director said, “We are not riding on a scandal with Talvar. That’s not our intention. Although, there was a verdict, there is a sense of unfinished business, a lack of closure in this case. This is why it still haunts. This is a story that must be told.”
PULI: Directed by Chimbu Deven, this is a fantasy-adventure film, starring Vijay, Sudeep, Sridevi, Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani. Sridevi made her comeback in English Vinglish (2012) and this is her second film after that.
THE MARTIAN: Directed by Ridley Scott, the film features Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig and Jeff Daniels.
It is the story of human survival and will power. Astronaut Mark Watney is taken for dead by his crew and accidentally left on Mars. He manages to survive and realizes that he is the only living being on the deserted planet. All contacts with Earth are destroyed and the chances of his survival depend only on the amount of food left in the spaceship. But Mark does not give up and uses all survival tricks to stay on and eventually he does manage a signal through to Earth.
The adventure begins when they decide to get him back home alive. Will they reach him in time? Will he be able to survive the harsh environment on the planet? Will NASA get to him before death?
Rush to the theatres to know what happens and … till next week its … ciao!
