Ek Yodha Shoorveer, Global Baba, Teraa Surroor, Race and Triple 9 are the films released this weekend.
Director Santosh Sivan’s new movie Ek Yodha Shoorveer, brings together a sizzling temptress (Vidya Balan) whom everyone desires, a sensational (Tabu), seen in this form after a long period of serious roles and a sweet young girl (Genelia D’Souza) in a legendary story of a warrior belonging to Northern Kerala warrior clans.
The film is set in the 16th century and is the story of Chirakkal Kelu Nayanar (Prithviraj), who is on a mission to kill Vasco da Gama. Kelu has a legendary golden Urumi, made from the ornaments of dead women and children who were burnt alive in a ship that was going to Mecca. It was set on fire and sunk under the instructions from Vasco da Gama.
The other films released this weekend are; Global Baba: Directed by Manoj Sidheshwar Tewari, the film is the projection of how religion and corruption erode our daily lives and how we allow it to happen. The film features Sanjay Mishra, Abhimanyu Singh and Sandeepa Dhar in the main roles; Teraa Surroor: Directed by Shawn Arranha it is the sequel to 2007 film Aap Kaa Surroor. The film stars Himesh Reshammiya, Farah Karimaee, Naseeruddin Shah, Shekhar Kapur, Kabir Bedi and Monica Dogra.
We also have two English movies released this weekend: Triple 9 is a crime thriller film directed by John Hillcoat, featuring Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anthony Mackie and Aaron Paul. Gangster war, armed robberies, heist and corruption on a high level pull out an adventure full of threats and danger beyond compare.
Race is a biographical sports drama film. Directed by Stephen Hopkins, the film stars Stephan James, Jason Sudeikis and Jeremy Irons. It is the real story of African American athlete Jesse Owens, who won a record-breaking four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games.
