Movie Time – India Box Office

The Box Office this weekend:

Nil Battey Sannata: Women’s education has always been a fight in India. Majority women in the villages in rural India are still uneducated. Well, the fight goes on to make India better by educating every girl child. But what does one do if the girl is just not interested in studying at all.

Directed by Ashwini Iyer Tewari, this is a film on such issues which need to be handled at the grass root level. An ambitious mother wants to educate her rebellious daughter, who is adamant not to study any more as she knows that her mother will not be able to support her financially in her further studies. The film sports some amazing performances by Swara Bhaskar, Ratna Pathak, Ria and Pankaj Tripathi.


Laal Rang: Directed by Syed Ahmed Afzal, the film features Randeep Hooda, Akshay Oberoi, Rajnish Duggal and Pia Bajpai in lead roles. A village don Shankar runs an illegal blood bank, which apparently is a common site in rural India.

On the other hand Poonam loves Rajesh who does not earn a penny. Rajesh gets involved in the blood bank business with Shankar, as Poonam instigates him to earn lots of money. The circle of love, money, fame and greed is complicated when the Police gets involved.

Santa Banta Pvt. Ltd: After the ban on Santa Banta jokes which have been floating around for ages now, we see a movie releasing with a similar theme. The story of two sardars Santa and Banta, who are sent to Fiji to kill a don.

Directed by Akashdeep Sabir, the film features Vir Das, Boman Irani, Lisa Haydon, Sanjay Misra, Ram Kapoor, Johnny Lever and Neha Dhupia in lead roles.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War: In this dark fantasy adventure film, we see, a good queen who loses her only child and a bad queen who misuses her powers to kill the child. She believes in the prophecy which declares that the good queens child will kill her as she grows powerful by the day.

The good queen mourns her child to the extent that she builds a fortress of ice around her heart and builds an army of children. These are the Huntsmen who take her revenge and destroy the mirror who makes the prophecies. A prequel to the film ‘The Snow White’, this film is a visual cinematic wonder.

Directed by Cedric Nicholas Troyan, the film features Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Nick Frost, Sam Claflin, Emily Blunt, Rob Brydon and Jessica Chastain.
