MAD MAX: FURY ROAD: the fourth in the Mad Max series, features Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, leaving out Mel Gibson for the first time.
The earlier versions were released in 1979, 1981 and 1985.
An Australian post-apocalyptic action film directed by George Miller it opens with Tom Hardy taking the baton from Mel Gibson. Charlize Theron is seen as Furosia, who takes over the rescue mission as the adventure begins.
The world is in ruins and now it is a matter of survival. Will this Mad Max be worth waiting for 3 decades?
BOMBAY VELVET: This is a period crime drama directed by Anurag Kashyap. It features Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, Kay Kay Menon and Siddharth Basu.
This is a story about Johnny Balraj and Rosie Noronha that takes us to a different era in the city of dreams, Mumbai. While Johnny is a street fighter who turns mobster, Rosie is a Jazz singer.
Bombay Velvet, based on Gyan Prakash’s book Mumbai Fables, has many twists and turns.
The songs and the background score bring back the 60’s era. One particular number Fifi, an original O.P. Nayyar gem, has been revamped by Mickey McCleary and sung by Suman Shridhar.
We also see famous producer director full Karan Johar making a full time acting debut. He plays media moghul Kaizad Khambata helping Johnny to make it big. However he then turns out a villian that certainly should be a watch.
As the film direcor puts it heartthrob Anushka’s character is a tribute to Lorna Cordeiro, a jazz singer, who ruled the night clubs with her silky voice in the 60’s.
Till next week … ciao.
